Expert Committee Tourism Policy

In addition to providing technical support for projects and initiating activities, the Tourism Policy Committee deals with current issues. The focus of the technical-political work lies on the topics future destination, economic factor tourism as well as financing of tourist tasks in Saxony. The decisive factor here is the direct nationwide exchange of experience among the members.

Up-to-date, competent, hybrid – How communication works in a crisis

LTV SACHSEN continues to rely on the Tourism Policy Committee as a proven platform of communication between legislative representatives, Executive, our members, municipalities, DMOs and businesses.

Digital or hybrid event formats have now proven their worth. This allows remote speakers to be included. For example, Norbert Kunz, Managing Director of the German Tourism Association, and Karsten Heinsohn from DWIF accepted our invitation via Zoom conference.

During the professional exchange, the following questions will be addressed: What is the current situation in Saxon tourism? What are the opportunities and prospects for tourism with and to Corona? What trends and opportunities in the industry are emerging for the period after the relaunch?

Great pressure on the players arises from the shortage of skilled workers. There is also a shortage of trainees. This raises important questions, such as how better service can be provided with fewer staff in the future. Quality assurance remains an ongoing issue!

Invited guests regularly present themselves at the Tourism Policy Expert Committee, such as the DRK Landesverband Sachsen. The association is a member of LTV SACHSEN since 2019 and with its many volunteers an important partner in the strong network. The speakers of the DRK explained to the expert committee, among other things, important interfaces between the work of the DRK and the tourism actors in the field of mountain and water rescue, as well as current work priorities.

All topics make for a lively exchange. The participants are united in one great wish: “Back to normal!” This path, however, requires clear adaptation strategies.

Tourism is of great importance for the quality of life and location in Saxony. After the high losses of the last two years, support is needed more than ever; companies, tourist resorts and tourism associations need planning security and perspective again.
