Journey into the unknown. An industry comes together

When the Landesfremdenverkehrsverband Sachsen e.V. was founded on April 5, 1991, it was necessary to set the first course, to combine development and learning with innovation. The development was unrivaled in terms of speed and dynamics. It quickly became clear that the development of tourism in Saxony is a joint task for everyone, which can only be solved together – and sometimes in a roundabout way. By listening, talking to each other, the understanding for each other grew, disagreements were discussed directly. Together, tourism development in Saxony was advanced.

Admittedly: Particularly in the first few years, there were certainly a number of people who had reservations. But after 20 years of tourism development in Saxony, even they have to admit it: The large-scale experiment has succeeded. The dream of Saxony as a travel destination has become reality. 20 years after reunification, Saxony has become a popular vacation destination and the No. 1 cultural travel destination in Germany.
